CASUAL VACANCIES
Winshill Parish Council has casual vacancies for Parish Councillors which it will fill by co-option. Any person wishing to serve as a Councillor should apply in writing or by email to the Parish Council at the address below by 30th September 2026 giving some details and information about themselves, background and why they wish to become a Parish Councillor.
FRIENDS OF THE PEACE WOOD
We would like to form a Friends of the Peace Wood Group to help with improving the whole are in Mill hill Lane Park Friends would be tasked with keeping an eye on the Peace Wood and reporting any problems so that they can be attended to. Occasionally we will meet to do some general maintenance or some planting of wild flowers or shrubs. More importantly, we are always looking for new ideas for improving the area.

WINSHILL IN BLOOM IN HEART OF ENGLAND IN BLOOM
After yet another successful year, we would like to thank the many individual volunteers and community groups who contributed so much to our entries to Heart of England in Bloom.
This year we achieved the equivalent of 6 Gold awards, one Silver Gilt and one Bronze.

COST OF LIVING CRISIS
The Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre Charity based in Canterbury Road is helping to provide community support where possible in conjunction with other public organisations. WINSHILL PARISH PLAN
Following a lengthy consultation exercise the Parish Plan Council has been completed. Following the public meeting at Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre further ideas have now been accommodated in the final version which has been delivered to every household in the Parish. The Parish Council in conjunction with other organisations will look to implement the measures put forward in the Plan.
WINSHILL NEIGHBOURHOOD DEVELOPMENT PLAN
The Neighbourhood Plan has now been approved by a Government Inspector and following the overwhelming vote in favour at the referendum held in the Parish on Thursday 25th January in 2018 it has now been adopted as planning policy by East Staffordshire Borough Council.
PARISH COUNCIL MEETINGS
The next Meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Wednesday 30th August 2026 at 7.30pm in the Resource Centre in Canterbury Road. Members of the public are invited to attend. Please note that the date of the meeting has been set back by two weeks due to holiday commitments.
PARISH COUNCIL PRECEPT 2026- 2027
Winshill Parish Council Members agreed at the December 2025 meeting to increase the Parish Council Precept (included as part of the overall Council Tax) by 2.81% in order to continue to meet the needs of the parish and its residents. This is set at a rate of 57 pence per week for an average Band D property.
PARISH COUNCIL CHAIRMAN
At the meeting of the Parish Council in July 2026 the members unanimously agreed to elect Councillor John Batten as Chairman and Councillor Ian North as Vice-Chairman following the resignation of the previous Chairman, Councillor Dennis Fletcher. At the meeting Members paid tribute to Councillor Margaret Fletcher and Councillor Dennis Fletcher who had both recently resigned after years of service to the community as well as thanking Roger Cope for his continuing work on the website following his prior resignation.
THE ANNUAL GOVERNANCE SUBMISSION FOR THE YEAR ENDING 31 MARCH 2026 HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
An accordance with the rights of inspection under section 25 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 electors can view the yet to be externally audited Annual Government Statement and Statement of Accounts along with the Notice of date for the exercise of public rights covering the 12 months to 31 March 2026.
